Dear Nancy and Family, We are so sorry to learn of John's passing. Henry first met him over the phone in Kevin's office but came to feel as if he had known him all his life. They shared many discussions and much laughter over the past years, not all of which concerned politics!. We were very happy to eventually meet both of you in Calgary, for lunch. What a great Man and an Awesome friend... John was my first pastor when I was 17 (1973) and went forward for an alter call. The perfect shepard guiding me through the rocky path of conversion. I could say he will be sorrily missed but my memory of John is with me daily and will last a lifetime. Another angle gets his wings, fly high my friend and touch the face of God...

Many fond memories of John. We voted in favour of him taking on his first pastorate in Winnipeg a week before we were married. That is now 43 years ago. We remember the physically big man but then he slimed down, the man who wore a lime green suit, the man with concise well prepared sermons that lasted only 15 to 20 minutes, the man who thought outside the box, the man who was our friend, the man with a deep faith, the man who shared weekly Johnny and Susie stories, the man who was genuine and cared about you, the man of creativity. I am deeply saddened by this loss. John had a profound influence in my life. I loved his boldness and confident faith. He enabled me to be successful for the first time in life. I have so many good memories of PJ at Gardner Bible College 1985-88...he slowed me to go home for a few days when I was a freshman and more homesick than I thought--he taught me to be a good writer and always had many stories to tell to make class interesting...he was easy to get along with and I was blessed to spend that time knowing him.
