Bertha Lillia Rakoz

(June 11, 1928 - February 2, 2020)

Bertha Rakoz (nee Spohn) of Camrose passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at the age of 91. She was born in Strome on June 11, 1928 and married Isadore Rakoz on August 2, 1948. 
 

Left to morn are her children Gloria (Richard) Lemieux, Denice Roy, Dave (Jan), Ken (Linette), Gerri (Les) Hall, and Kathy Tripp (Curtis Goldman); eleven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Bertha was the third youngest of a family of fourteen and has one sister Margaret remaining. She was predeceased by her husband Isadore and son Raymond. 
 

Bertha loved baking. Cinnamon buns, cookies and pies were her specialties. She enjoyed doing crafts which included making photo albums, crochet and embroidery.  Hockey and baseball were her favorite sports.She took great pride in her rose garden and always planted a vegetable garden. Bertha raised seven children and instilled in them good values which also reflect on her grandchildren. Bertha was a long-time member of the CWL and was a Eucharistic Minister for a number of years. Home meant everything to mom and she dedicated her life to her family.

A Prayer Vigil was held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at the Burgar Memorial Chapel, 4817 - 51 Ave Camrose.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2020 from the St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 3605 50 St Camrose with Father Patrick Baska as celebrant.

If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Bertha's memory may be made to the St. Francis Xavier Building Fund or to Unit 2 - Palliative Care, St. Mary's Hospital.
